Geez, I’m so pretty dense. What's the point of doing a bunch of blogpost-drafts when you actually forget to *schedule* them? *cough* Right. Couple cards coming up! =)

Over at the Glue Arts blog we have (ok, had) a Pinterest-week. We were to draw inspiration from images posted to Pinterest, and create something of our own. Well, I loved these Pebbles Inc -papers so much that I decided to create a card when I saw this image:

And while I’m sharing cards, here’s one I did a few weeks ago but never got around to share (hmm, see a trend? Naa…no comments on age and dementia, please :p)…

The coworkers needed a babycard, so I dug into the Fancy Pants Designs papers of mine, found these then a really, really old rub-on from Jenni Bowlin (the bird – impressive how well it still was after so long)..the chipboardframe is from Crate paper, the button from American Crafts, small flowers from Kort & Godt, tulle and some hidden strips of die cut from Doodlebug….

And ofcourse, Hambly onesie-transparency..can’t create a babycard without these now, can I? :)

It’s true. I’ve stamped!

Sentiments only, but still. I’ve stamped ;)

Glue Arts had a product swap with Paper Smooches, hence the stamping…I got to chose what kind of stamp I’d like to work with, and well, since I’m no stamper I figured if I went for the sentiments I’d be safe…at least nothing that required me trying to color in and stuff, which..I’d only attempted once I think, at a crop borrowing some uh, copics I think? from the other girls, and well, I don’t think you’d like me to attempt that for a DT-project haha…not until I’ve had some practice at least cough..

Right. I’m babbling. Back to track: Sentiments. Like Happy Birthday, congratulations and stuff – nice and safe and oh, so versatile :)

 

I figured I’d make a small stack of premade cards for the occasions when the kids comes home with a note/invitation that they’re invited to someones birthdayparty the same day (happens oh too often..they get these invitations and forget about presenting them to us adults until like half an hour before it starts,…love it when it happens….not!

Anyways – I used Pink Paislee for my cards – mostly Hometown, but also some bits of the older collections.

And I really liked this “you rock” sentiment. :)

Just guess I’ll doublecheck with the kiddo whether he’ll really use one such card for a girl or not..

Right. Last card. These were fairly quick and easy to make.

Love to create dimension with the UCutit-foam – here I placed two together to build the height for the “you rock” banner :)

Did you know that 3ndypapir now have a monthly challenge going on?

It just started – and Maya is asking for anything that says “thank you”. You can read more about the challenge here (it’s in both Norwegian and English, just scroll down).

Well, figured I’d join along as well…next month it’s my turn doing this challenge, and I have no idea what to come up with atm…any suggestions to what kind of challenge you’d like to see?

The base of the card is a Core’dinations whitewash cardstock (I’m thinking it might be one of the Jenni Bowlin ones? Not quite sure, as I only got half a pack of this one and the top/cover was gone heh). Love the concept, looks pretty here does it not? I used papers from the Sweetheart collection as well as the bingocards (with a Paper Smooches “thanks” stamped upon the top so it would fit this challenge). Love this gorgeous color and feel of the rose ribbon from Prima, as well as antennas made by the glitter twisters (very pretty but a bit too much loose glitter for my taste. I’d recommend the pastel bunch – lovely colors & quite versatile)

I also did a card for my recent Glue Arts-post.

It’s quite simple and once again I grabbed for Pink Paislee’s Sweetness-collection. Can’t get enough of that one, but the stock is dwindling sigh…so pretty…

Nevertheless….it’s a babycard (duh), hence the onesies from Hambly Screenprints (pretty..and remember, one sheet goes a long, long way when used like this, little bits here and there…).

Hmmm.

The latter images are fairly darkish and magentaish, aren’t they? I can’t recall whether they were edited before or after my old screen went bye-bye, but the first images (the 3ndypapir-card) were edited after, with the new temporary screen I am using….but the thing is…despite calibrating the screen I feel (plus the way I edit as well according to the temp screen) it’s different and I have no idea whether it’s good different or bad different …how does the colors and editing look to you?

I am planning to purchase a new screen sometime next week or the week after, I’m going for an Eizo-screen which I hope will help me be able to edit/display my photos in the most color-accurate environment sort of. I have photos from a babysession from yesterday which I had to put on hold because I got so unsure whether the colors and hues I saw on the screen were correct or not – plus there’s an upcoming weddingsession next weekend so I really need that new screen like, now! (I’ve had that Eizo-screen on my wishlist for a while now, just figured I’d wait until the timing/pricetag/size of wallet was right, instead I have to rush for that purchase now, bleh! :p).

These are all so beautiful! We call the item where the water is poured on the baby's head the baptismal font. I have been a bit afraid to use a sewing machine on my cards/layouts. I'm afraid the needle will break!

 

Ahh thanks for the help re the correct word for the baptismal font!

And I get what you mean – but it will actually not break unless you’re reckless and try to force it through lots of layers (like 4 or 5 thick sheets at once) or chipboard. At least I’ve never had that happen to myself….and to be honest…with my old sewing machine (which was a dirt cheap one) I was too afraid to use it on fabric because I thought it would break it or something like that (it doesn’t make sense, I know haha). Nevertheless..if a project looks “meh” I usually try the sewing machine..no, it doesn’t always save the project, but usually helps slightly :p

I’m now well into my last month with the position as a journalist at the local newspaper. It’s been a whirlwind of happiness & work work work the last five-six months, and I truly hope I get to stay – but.. we’ll see. There’s many deserving to stay there too, as I’m not the only substitute at work. I guess I’ll just enjoy my last month and then..come what may…I’ll probably continue as a freelancer if I don’t get to continue, but hey, it’s not quite the same as actually get to work with amazing co-workers every day (freelancing is quite lonely work)…so just cross your fingers for me will ya? :p

So, CHA-S ended a while ago, which means..it’s about time to share what I did with the new Prima-stuff, no? :) I’ll admit, to create stuff for Prima feels a bit overwhelming because there’s so many talented gals on the team who’s like, really “prima”…so good at using especially the flowers and multitudes of embellishments from Prima, while I…well, I’m usually more sparse when it comes to using embellishments on my pages methinks. I’m not a C&S scrapper, but hmm.,..somewhere in the middle maybe? Anyways…the photos I used for my projects were photos from my trip to my family last Spring, which’s been sitting on the desk waiting for an opportunity to be scrapped…yay! Here’s my grandmother trying to copy the “trick” my daughter is trying to learn her..haha..so heartwarming and funny to watch in real life..I used the Pixie Glen-collection for this one.

Oh and look, the white felt leaves are one of my favorites! So lovely and versatile..and notice the new twisters? Just curl it around your knitting pin or whatever thin and round thing you have at hand, and you’ll get extra “stems”/decorations :)

This powder puff flower was one of my favorites too, and I think it fit well with this bird on top of it..

Oh, and seen Ingvild Bolme’s resinpieces? Lovely stuff! I think I prefer it raw-looking like this, but you can also paint and ink and spray’em…

And I adore the new gems from Prima, they’re doing a huge range of circles and hearts in various looks..

I also did another of these star-shaped cards for their booth – a very simple one using the North Country-collection, the awesome & handy-sized canvasletters, the blank gems and some gesso for the edges.

It’s a beautiful paperline..a bit folk-y in feel hm?

I didn’t decorate it much. One, because I still am not sure how to decorate such cards, and two, because I think it looks “enough” by its own hm?

Miss Emily Pitts has yet another sketch out for Crate, one which was perfect for the card I had to make. I love when the sketches really takes out the guesswork for you!

As a base I used pattrned paper from School Spirit, while the rest is taken from Toy Box. And see, the cute cloud punch? It’s a Fiskars easy squeeze punch, and I love how it really is easy to squeeze out!

I hate how it’s the little, seemingly effortless things that messes up with you! In my instance: the twine! I cannot for the life of me get it to fall pretty & natural, like, Larissa-style. Sigh.

Working this weekend, yay..or something like that…

(I love my work and what I do, but having to work weekends is admittedly slightly bleh…:p)

 

It’s been sorta killing me not being able to share this earlier…haha..

And I’m pretty flabbergasted that Maya Road actually were aware of me…enough to ask me to join their team…I’d never have imagined that in my wildest dreams…tbh I’ve been secretly a bit bummed that they didn’t have official calls, then suddenly out of the blue they asked if I’d like to try out for a position…uhm…yes??? So it’s been a few nervewrecking weeks until everything fell in place & the position was official. Congrats to my fellow MRDT-newbies Angella Peardon and Melissa Sauls!

Right now they have a week-long Design Team Feature, where the designteam-members share their favorite Maya Road-item and you can win a prize package consisting of 5 Maya Mists from the early summer release.

 

My favorite Maya Road items were too difficult to pick, so I had to go with the generic ANYTHING with chipboards! I love how versatile the raw chipboards can be – you can mist, paint, dress up w/papers, glitterify, whatever – with them. And then I guess I have to admit the birds of a feather set (it’s fairly old, and I’m almost out of it now) are one of the favorites among the chipboard-sets.

The raw chipboardheart is actually a minibook, one where I tore off the pages so I could use them like this.

This kind of card is pretty popular among the cardmakers, and I get why. It’s easy and it does look a little bit fancy…for almost no extra effort compared to “regular” cards. I’m not quite sure what it’s called – easelcard?

Love the flowers and trinkets too!

And the chipboard-bird & branch….I love the look glitter+glossy accent together yields…and if you seal the glitter w/glossy accent or some other glossy adhesive, the glitter won’t spread/fall off…big plus….since I wow every time I use glitter it’ll be my last time….love the look, hate the mess!

A few weeks ago the kiddo walked up to me letting me know that “Your biggest fan just invited me to her birthday. You gotta make her an amazing card!”.

Uhm. Let’s just say that in my kiddos class I’m quite renown for my cards, haha. They’ve been fawning over the cards the kiddo takes with him to various bday-parties, even the most simple ones..

Nevertheless. What do you do when your kids puts this kind of responsibility on your shoulders?

I came across this starfolded card at Pysseltagens blog – created by BellaMio (thank you!). You can find the how-to-video directly at YouTube here as well.

I used Crate Paper’s Pink Plum and Paper Doll collections here. The letters comes from Basic Grey and the numbers from Pink Paislee. I didn’t decorate it at all, I think it looked pretty enough on its own sort of.

The card is pretty easy by the way, it’s just a bit of nitpicking w/the untraditional shapes (I hate dislike using the ruler and to be careful and stuff) so I’m not sure if I’ll do this one too often. Must be a special occasion if so. Like, impressing my biggest fan ;)

My boss recently quit his job as an executive editor to become the boss of all the executive editors of the hm, four or five local newspapers around here. I guess you can say he got promoted sort of.

Hence – the title of the card – “off to play with the big boys”, cause that’s exactly what he’s going to do..

I was asked to make a card on behalf of the coworkers, to which I happily obliged. You can say there’s quite a bit of hidden symbolism on this card..it’s very personalized so to speak..

First of all, I love the wooden buttons that’s in the buttoncollections from Crate Paper. The card is created with Crate Paper’s Toy Box by the way – buttons, ribbon, papers and chipboards. Plastic butterfly-charms from Maya Road, letters from AdornIt and Pink Paislee. Bakers twine + doily as additional props.

I’m gonna miss the boss.

I recently interviewed a lady who said “Your first workexperience is instrumental in shaping who you’ll

be(come)” – or something to that extent. I believe she’s right.

I remember vividly my first meeting with the boss. I remember the enthusiasm I was greeted with – an enthusiasm that was geared towards me, and what I was proposing. It really made a deep impression on me. Someone who really believed in me and what I could do? Wow.

I really like this technique – folding a smaller card inside the larger one. It yields a sort of very thoughtful touch to the card.. for very little effort..

Right. I’m working this weekend, but after a few quite stressful days earlier this week I’m quite delighted that both Friday and Saturday has been sort of quiet and peaceful compared. Friday was a pretty weird day I must say, being the boss’ last day at work and all.

Ps. I got to use the 70-200mm on some kids riding bikes and stuff Friday evening, it was quite fun actually (and hard still)..got so much to learn, yet…happy I get to practice stuff every now and then :)

Also practiced the panning-technique, yay. I so admire those really understanding how to do sports-photography!

This now adorns my office. It’s a sort of sturdy “card” which doubles as a booklet you can display on your bookshelf or mantelpiece to show off the contents – in my case – images of my two lovely children (I’m their mother, ofcourse I think they’re lovely ;) ).

It’s created for Glue Arts, and if you’re interested to learn how to create this one (it’s pretty darn simple & easy) I have a tutorial up on their blog which you should be able to find here. There’s a giveaway too – they always have great giveaways :)

Here’s the front by the way. I used the summer-y collection 365 degrees from Pink Paislee, as well as some bits and pieces from Maya Road on this one. Oh, and you can see peeks from some leftover-rubons from Fancy Pants Designs on the tag :)

This is the back – I figure I’ve forgotten the details about my kids @2011 in a few years, like their ages and where they are/were in school/kindergarten at the time…;p
