Wedding Gallery

Every month we have a challenge going on over at 3ndypapir, and I’m the one responsible for the September-challenge. It’s 1. Use scraps (I have a long winded explanation as to why on the 3ndyblog – but basically – it’s because I need to purge stuff for the good news, see below :p), and 2. Use at least an old embellishment while you’re at it (mine: the übercool Hambly-rubons).

The prize? Well, it’s brand new papers from 3ndypapir. Yep, that’s right – Gudrun is soon coming out with new collections for 3ndypapir. Check out the peek for the first one, “Blue Sky”:

Such lovely, fun colors, eh? I’m certainly looking forward to this one! You’ll find the full images of every paper in this line in this post.

So. Scraps. I’m too good for my own good at keeping them *sigh*. Hence – thick, hard-to-close-folders loaded with scraps. Also, I’m good at cutting up things then realizing – uhm, I think I changed my mind. A bad trait, I know..Nevertheless…all the different 3ndypapir-lines sort of goes well together here, don’t you think? :)

And old embellishments – I’m trying to remember to use my rubons, as they’re the first to actually “go bad”….all the other stuff can be reglued sorta. Nevetheless. Love the Hambly-rubons and the cute & cool designs :)

Did you know that 3ndypapir now have a monthly challenge going on?

It just started – and Maya is asking for anything that says “thank you”. You can read more about the challenge here (it’s in both Norwegian and English, just scroll down).

Well, figured I’d join along as well…next month it’s my turn doing this challenge, and I have no idea what to come up with atm…any suggestions to what kind of challenge you’d like to see?

The base of the card is a Core’dinations whitewash cardstock (I’m thinking it might be one of the Jenni Bowlin ones? Not quite sure, as I only got half a pack of this one and the top/cover was gone heh). Love the concept, looks pretty here does it not? I used papers from the Sweetheart collection as well as the bingocards (with a Paper Smooches “thanks” stamped upon the top so it would fit this challenge). Love this gorgeous color and feel of the rose ribbon from Prima, as well as antennas made by the glitter twisters (very pretty but a bit too much loose glitter for my taste. I’d recommend the pastel bunch – lovely colors & quite versatile)

I also did a card for my recent Glue Arts-post.

It’s quite simple and once again I grabbed for Pink Paislee’s Sweetness-collection. Can’t get enough of that one, but the stock is dwindling sigh…so pretty…

Nevertheless….it’s a babycard (duh), hence the onesies from Hambly Screenprints (pretty..and remember, one sheet goes a long, long way when used like this, little bits here and there…).

Hmmm.

The latter images are fairly darkish and magentaish, aren’t they? I can’t recall whether they were edited before or after my old screen went bye-bye, but the first images (the 3ndypapir-card) were edited after, with the new temporary screen I am using….but the thing is…despite calibrating the screen I feel (plus the way I edit as well according to the temp screen) it’s different and I have no idea whether it’s good different or bad different …how does the colors and editing look to you?

I am planning to purchase a new screen sometime next week or the week after, I’m going for an Eizo-screen which I hope will help me be able to edit/display my photos in the most color-accurate environment sort of. I have photos from a babysession from yesterday which I had to put on hold because I got so unsure whether the colors and hues I saw on the screen were correct or not – plus there’s an upcoming weddingsession next weekend so I really need that new screen like, now! (I’ve had that Eizo-screen on my wishlist for a while now, just figured I’d wait until the timing/pricetag/size of wallet was right, instead I have to rush for that purchase now, bleh! :p).

These are all so beautiful! We call the item where the water is poured on the baby's head the baptismal font. I have been a bit afraid to use a sewing machine on my cards/layouts. I'm afraid the needle will break!

Ahh thanks for the help re the correct word for the baptismal font!

And I get what you mean – but it will actually not break unless you’re reckless and try to force it through lots of layers (like 4 or 5 thick sheets at once) or chipboard. At least I’ve never had that happen to myself….and to be honest…with my old sewing machine (which was a dirt cheap one) I was too afraid to use it on fabric because I thought it would break it or something like that (it doesn’t make sense, I know haha). Nevertheless..if a project looks “meh” I usually try the sewing machine..no, it doesn’t always save the project, but usually helps slightly :p

I’m now well into my last month with the position as a journalist at the local newspaper. It’s been a whirlwind of happiness & work work work the last five-six months, and I truly hope I get to stay – but.. we’ll see. There’s many deserving to stay there too, as I’m not the only substitute at work. I guess I’ll just enjoy my last month and then..come what may…I’ll probably continue as a freelancer if I don’t get to continue, but hey, it’s not quite the same as actually get to work with amazing co-workers every day (freelancing is quite lonely work)…so just cross your fingers for me will ya? :p

So, school’s out, and not surprisingly I was last-minute-everything on stuff this year. Like, when I wanted to bake oreo-cookies as teacher favor and ended up doing regular choc chip cookies because the oreo-cookies didn’t quite pan out the way it was supposed to. Nevertheless, made a little box for the cookies late in the evening the day before…this is the only picture I snapped of the contents of the box..look…Hambly Screenprints cupcake-paper! It’s made of a sort of thick vellumlike material, so I sort of imagine it’s great to place cookies upon too..like, thick baking paper…?

It’s pretty no-fuss&simple…blame it on my last-minute-everythingness! The woodgrainpaper & chipboard is from Crate Paper :)

ALso had to do some gift wrapping, and what’s better than kraft + 3ndypapir-papers + doily + vintage paper + Hambly?? Not to mention repurposing a tag I already had made (for the Crate Wedding Favors if you might recall).

Love getting to use this elephant-paper (Hambly once again :) )

What else’s new? Hmm..

I’ve gone slightly berserk at ebay..this is Deborah Lippmann’s “Bad Romance”. I got “Ruby Red Slippers” the next day, and am awaiting like five more polishes. *cough* (I deserved it! Worked the whole weekend so by the end I was like, I’m so gonna hit ebay now! Love quick shipping!)

In the craze trying to wrap up the Tove+Trym-pictures I’ve neglected to share the other snapshots made while in Oslo!! Here’s my lovely, adorable nephew!! Sigh, miss him so!

My sister and I are both in our thirties (YIKES!), and have never been out eating just the two of us. Never. So, thanks to the kindness that’s Groupon (haha) we had tapas the first evening…just the two of us and a bottle of wine…. it was such a great time and we both cannot understand why we haven’t done that before. I guess we had to grow up and become adults first…(and have Groupon come our way .p)

Then we went around Aker Brygge in search for some beer..(or in her case; Irish Coffee).

Only found boobs, though *wink*

And a gorgeous view..snapped lots of fun photos of us two…

When I was done shooting Tove+Trym on Saturday, my sister insisted on fetching me (at 11.30am) and driving me to her home (I originally stayed with mom, but sis insisted I needed to try her new outdoor Jacuzzi). Well, I was tired and sleepy and exhausted and she insisted to make me drinks and that I had to try the Jacuzzi before I left and it wouldn’t be time in the morning, so I was like, fine, fine, I’ll go just so you’ll stop bugging me…and well…I’m so glad I gave in, cause every photographer SO needs a Jacuzzi after a hard days work!!! We sat there for almost an hour before calling it a night…lovely ending to a great day :)

The next day…me and my adorable nephew once again…and LOOK! WE’RE MATCHING!!! ;)

Right. Been a few relaxing days off work where I did pretty much nothing, ahhh (I worked last weekend again = I have days off work the following Thurs&Fri), X fingers I’ll get my CHA-boxes today so I can get started before work starts again on Monday!!

Yeah, I’m talking to you mom & sis! *smile*

This week Glue Arts is collaborating with Clear Scraps, and I got this funky clearshaped..uhm…shape…thing..called XL Deco shape….plus a transparent sheet to work with. There’s a small tutorial-ish piece on some parts of this layout on the Glue Art blog, as well as the usual giveaway :)

For this one I dug up lots of my old faves – Hambly rubons, Making Memories journaling tag (the scallopcircle one I used for the title), a mix of Prima and Kort&Godt flowers, some of my favorite 3ndypapir-papers, letters from American Crafts, bling from KaiserCraft and ribbons and button from Crate Paper (I guess they’re the newest SB-things here on this layout).

Oh, and a punch from Martha Stewart…I purchased a new one – the big scallop-fan-thingie. I really love that one, but after using it like, twice or so, it looks like the metal springs refuse to work properly – at least it takes double the work & some wiggling in between each punch. Hrmm. I guess I could try oiling the springs, but I’m afraid that’ll cause lots of oilspills on the papers for a good long while…? I purchased it on sale from a store that folded, so I highly doubt I can get a replacement, bleh..

Nevertheless…..love that I finally got around to use the Hambly rubons and that these hadn’t dried out. The Glue Art Raisen’s are perfect for the transparency – you’ll hardly see it through the transparency and it yields such nice dimension to the project to :)

And here’s a project I did for Glue Arts last week – a hair clip/barrette holder made w/an empty box (mine’s from zutter). I’ve made one my daughter’s using a few years ago…I think I’ll keep this and fill it w/new hairclips – it’s soon her best friends birthday, and it’ll make a cute minigift methinks. I used a mix of Crate Paper’s Neighborhood and Emma’s Shoppe for this one. While I think it turned out a bit too busy, I believe little girls will love it nevertheless. I hope.

Right. Weekend, sweet weekend. Might drop by the summerplace sometime this weekend, plus I’ve got a few (cough) photos to edit now =) Can’t wait to share more amazing photos from the big Tove+Trym celebration! :)

Pencil-Lines sketch #227 – created with the new “Sweetheart”-papers from 3ndypapir :) Oh, and some Hambly, old letters from Heidi Swapp & American Crafts and a sheet of Crate Paper (the striped one), as well as a tag from Elle’s Studio :) The image is taken w/my iPhone at the library – they have a nice little section for kids w/this chairhousethingie :)

The paperflowers are cut from a sheet of the green paper in “Sweetheart” and layered – same thing w/the angel..

I like that there’s no need to edit the images when taking pictures w/my iPhone – they’re usually edited already, either with filters (I love Instagram & Hipstamatic) or by using the editingprogs TiltShiftGen or Filterstorm. And – for my needs – just printing them small-ish, they’re just perfect and prints beautifully. I also like the Pocketbooth-app (Amalie loves this one), but haven’t tried to print out these images yet.

I’ve also felt the itch to take more pictures of my kids w/the DSLR & edit them, it’s actually very fun and rewarding doing so…I think I’ll aim to get better at this..

eating: our new dinner-fave (throw diced rutabaga, carrot, potatoes, garlic, onions together w/meat (tonight we did shreds of leftover-chicken&diced vossakorv), some water, some cream and broth), let simmer for an hour or more – until the rutabaga is soft..mmm,.. add either World’s Best Dinner Rolls or English Muffins (we had the latter, I froze some from last time & it’s still so very yummy when thawed&reheated in the oven) – lovely!
drinking: tap water
wearing: some old cord-pants and a purple knit jacket.
feeling: stuffed & tired! :p & looking through some babysession-piccies and getting excited for next week’s babysession!
weather: blah blah – this one is such a boring q – good thing there’s only one more day left of this “feelings”-thing! ;p
wanting: not much – two cakes already baked (I went for this for the chocolate one and this as the base for the marzipan-one) – all I need now is tomorrow’s pizza&hotdog-baking to go just as smooth :)
needing: I dunno..maybe a glass of wine just to commend that I’ve been such a good baker today? ;p
thinking: how weird..tomorrow my oldest turns 10…yikes! (and how unfair for him that because I’ve been such a bad planner for his bday I’ve decided to try get better when it’s Amalies turn in a few months…ofcourse it remains to be seen whether I actually manage to get better at planning stuff, but still…)

I think the card is perfect! Share the recipe for oreo muffins, although I guess the measurements would be different from what I know.

Thank you! :) The Oreo Muffins can be found here (in Norwegian); here’s the English translation (she originally got the recipe from her US sister-in-law, so it should be easy to reverse the measurements):

Oreo Cupcakes

1 stick of butter
3 large egg whites
1 cup milk
2 cups (all purpose) flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
0.85 cup (caster?) sugar (this one was difficult, it says 190gram sugar, but it doesn’t translate into anything “smooth” US-wise like the other measurements)

45 oreo cookies

Start with taking apart the oreo-cookies – place the part w/the white filling filling-side-up in the muffin-forms. Bat the butter airy, add milk+vanilla, then flour/baking powder/salt – continue mixing – add sugar – mix/bat for approx 2 minutes – add egg whites – bat/mix for 2minutes at high speed – then add the rest of the oreo-cookies (which’s broken into 2 or 4 halves and lightly mixed with a bit flour).

Put in the oven for 20-25 minutes at 350F

We’ve eaten it w/o frosting (delicious), but am thinking that next time I’ll try the frosting she mentions in the reciepe:

21 oz philadelphia
1 stick of butter
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3-4 cups icing sugar (hmm or is it confectioners sugar? Very very finely grounded sugar..)
roughly grounded oreo-cookies w/o cream

ok..my little girlie yellin at me, I’m supposed to introduce her to Sound of Music, gotta run! ;p

Ps. The design team call for Pencil-Lines ends tomorrow – don’t forget to get your application in :) It’s a wonderful team to work with, I’m going to miss them lots!

Ps2. Norwegians, look at this! Nathalie Kalbach and Wenche Wold are going to teach at this upcoming Papirfesten! Nat is a wonderful, amazingly creative soul whose classes really have to be experienced, and if you’re into cardmaking I’m sure Wenche could show you a thing or two! Really contemplating going, but with so much going on at that time I’m not sure if I really can, sigh….maybe….?

I needed to make three CD-cards, and I know – I’d make things so much easier on myself if I allowed myself to just mass-produce stuff and lift myself sorta, but I dunno…I can’t stand the thought of it and yeah sure, some things might end up looking similar, but it’s never intentional, as I start out by just intending to create different things. Nevetheless, here’s CD-card one, made with papers and chipboard/sticker the lovely Portrait-collection from Crate Paper, brad from hm, the Restoration-collection I think, flowers from Prima, bling from Kaisercraft and letters from Adornit/American Crafts.

I really like how the flowers turned out :) I wrapped the stems of the smaller flowers around the chipboard-frame. And I try to use the “flat” kind of flowers I have from Prima – sigh..I have so many of these, yet I rarely manage to use them..hrmf!

The insides were decorated as well – more papers from Portrait..

And I decided to sew a CD-pocket out of vellum (I get so inspired by people like Danielle and Tara being pretty good at using vellum in their work)

The next CD-card was created with 3ndypapir-papers – mostly from the older “Secret Garden” collection, along with a few buttons (yeah, the same thing here – have too many buttons, use them too seldom! plus, I don’t have the kind of buttons I really need sorta..but it’d be too silly buying even more buttons, when I don’t really use them that much..? Eh..or something like that :p) and white corrugated cardboard (need more of these, that stash is low now and I do use them every now and then).

The round tags are from Elle’s Studio (my fave tags :)), and I decided to use this chipboard-bird (actually, I like using chipboard, it just feels like I don’t have that many of the “right” type though) from Maya Road w/crackle paint and crackle accent.

And this neat trick was found at Danielle’s blog, I hadn’t seen this before and I thought wow, that’s pretty genious – she used a circle-punch to punch out the corners like this. Um, why didn’t I think of that before? I thought it was a great idea to make something look pretty insta-elegant.

Here’s the CD-card opened..and some pieces of the new 3ndypapir-collection managed to find its way here :)

As for the third and last card, I decided to make it an envelope using Fancy Pants Designs’ Valentine-kraftpaper as the envelope. You can see the tutorial I made on this here – it’s very easy (as long as you put the ruler away .p).

I love the around-the-page-punchers I have – I guess I should get some more of these, but ugh, they do cost a fair bit methinks..the flower is from an old box of Prima-flowers..I like them, but they’re a bit bulky so I don’t use them too often (plus, that stash is dwindling aswell. Dwindling stash = hoarding :p). Oh, and I love the trend on banners like this (it’s called banner too, isn’t?) – it seems like especially the Polish/Russian scrappers loves to use this, and well, it is cute :)

And the French/South-Korean “A brand new life” – a beautiful, beautiful movie, quiet and sweet, it feels authentic and honest, never once falling for the temptation to turn it into like, drama & pathos as one might suspect w/such a theme..(and the actress playing Jinhee…so cute!)
enjoying: the happiness of my daughter when I made her a book :)
wondering: why Helena Bonham Carter always star in period-dramas these days? (either that, or her husbands movies…sure, sure, Harry Potter might not really be a period-drama, but it’s kinda similar isn’t? These kind of movies…)..just wondering..she’s amazing :)

Here’s a layout I created with the new “Sweetheart”-papers from 3ndypapir :) The papers are so romantic and tender – perfect for Spring :) I am not quite sure if I am “drowning” the picture with everything that’s around it though, hmm.. the picture is of my mother and nephew…sigh..oh, how I do miss him!

And the layout is heavily lathered with crackle paint…

Looking for romantic embellishments I found the huge doily…I haven’t used doilies on my projects in forever, and this one was pretty crumpled and stuff, but still fit perfect in here.. also, notice the chandeliers (both rub-ons and transparency) – both from Hambly Screenprints…yey! While a number of my rub-ons are dry and unusable, there’s still a large number of them still in perfect condition – wish I knew why the quality is so random…I believe this is one of my oldest rub-ons, and it was opened…

And – I’m pretty into banners atm (those strip-banners, not the flag-banners).

Your boxes look wonderful! I totally understand the hoarding of scrapbook supplies--like really, what am I saving them for? As far as the dream goes, it made me laugh. Did you eat anything odd before your went to sleep?

I know! I am trying to tell myself that, but it’s not easy…
And eating, hmm, I do not think so..I do tend to have weird dreams every once in a while, though, and I’ve been known to have been upset at my husband for things he’s done in my dreams (like it’s his fault…*rolls eyes*)

I know! These photos are adorable! I've seen Banglamarie's blog and love the beautiful knitted items she makes, although everything is in Norwegian and I can't understand a word. Perhaps you can pass on to her how talented I thinks she is. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. We're having snowy,icy, rainy weather here.

No, it’s a studio we rent (pretty much all the studio-pictures I’ve taken here in Bergen have been taken at this studio) by Ole Kristian at OKO Studio. He also hosts photography-classes if anyone’s interested – I know several of my friends have taken his classes and are very satisfied :)

Personally I do prefer natural shooting (documenting events unfolding photojournalist-style…if anyone needs a weddingphotographer do yell out :) ) – but it’s a great (and much needed) experience getting to shoot in a studio too, so I am thankful when friends wants me to shoot them. I am sure experts would find faults when it comes to the lightning (standard lightning), and I do wish I could experiment more, but hey, it works :)
